What a whirlwind of weeks it’s been— since the college moved to remote learning in mid-March, the Spatial Analysis Lab has worked hard to make sure we can still offer our mapping instruction. We’ve teamed up with our friends across the Science Quad, CATS (Computing and Technical Services), to use a new software called SplashTop to provide remote access to the lab for students using ArcGIS. We’ve moved into home offices and practiced using Zoom, then helped teach the larger faculty how to use Zoom for their classes with our colleagues in Learning, Research, and Technology (LRT). We’ve amused ourselves by using the green-screen function to trick our brains into thinking we are elsewhere— in the field, at the beach, or on the mountain identifying cirques and schrunds.
