Next Generation Sequencing

The CMB offers support for Next Generation Sequencing to the Smith Community. We offer short-read sequencing by synthesis on the Illumina MiSeq and direct long-read sequencing on an Oxford Nanopore MinION.

We’re happy to provide support for project consultation, instrument operation, library preparation and troubleshooting. Please reach out to Riccardo (rracicot@smith.edu) to talk about your project.

Current techniques include:

  • Whole-genome sequencing
  • Amplicon sequencing
  • 16s metagenomics
  • 18s metagenomics
  • Cut-N-Run
  • RNAseq (polyA selection)
  • RNAseq (rRNA depletion)
  • MinIon Long-read genomic sequencing

For projects not applicable to the MiSeq or MinIon, we recommend performing library prep at Smith and submitting samples to the Yale Center for Genome Analysis
