Welcome to the website of the Center for Mass Spectrometry at Smith College!

Our facility provides access to a variety of equipment for preparative and analytical  experimentation with biopolymers and small(er) organic molecules. We house several absorption and fluorescence spectrophotometers, HPLC instruments, as well as a Q Exactive HF-X Oribtrap mass spectrometer coupled with both nano- and micro-flow LC systems. Depending on your research or class needs you can get intellectual support on experimental design and best practices, hands-on training on specific instruments, or can submit samples for processing and analysis. Consult the general protocols for sample treatment and submission, as well as the compendium of outside resources and tutorials, for guidelines and inspiration.
