I was studying the effect of campus road salt management on the water quality of the Mill River and Lyman Pond. I collected water samples from drainages, pipes, ponds, and rivers and tested the water chemistry. I used the GPS unit to locate each sampling location. I had different layers for my regular water sampling location and the campus storm drain system. I was trying to understand the connection between building distribution and storm drain system based on the map Gary Hartwell gave me. That helped analyze the road salt usage situation. Then, I uploaded my analyzed water chemistry data to ArcGIS for each sampling location (including the storm drain samples). I made a map with different chemical layers to show the story of how the chemicals in our water are influenced by road salt management.
