Homework House
Homework House is a free after-school academic support program in Holyoke, Massachusetts. The program provides mentoring and tutoring for students living in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods in English and mathematics. Through our Homework House-STEAM Team collaboration, we are working to turn Fridays into “Science Fridays,” in which students are introduced to concepts in biology, chemistry, engineering, and physics through lessons and hands-on activities. While Science Fridays is being piloted with four workshops over the course of an academic semester in the 6-7th grade classroom, we hope to extend our longevity and adapt our workshops to fit other grade levels.
