Designing & Collecting Data with Survey123

4/16 Thursday 4:00-5:00 Tutorial & Recording

First of a 4 part series on designing surveys to capture and share crowdsourced map data. The Spatial Analysis Lab (SAL) will guide you through the process of creating a form, capturing geographic data, generating a map, and finally embedding the results into a spatial narrative or StoryMap. These are the same techniques used by the SAL in creating the Pioneer Valley Mutual Aid Map and the COVID-19 Experience map found on our online portal at: https://smithcollege.maps.arcgis.com/. Creating web map from Survey123 data

4/21 Tuesday 3:00-4:00 Tutorial & Recording

Second of a 4 part series on designing surveys to capture and share crowdsourced map data. During this workshop, the Spatial Analysis Lab (SAL) will guide you through the steps to make a web map with the data you crowdsourced using Survey123. We will add this data layer to your web map and also explore other data layers from the ArcGIS Living Atlas. Use this form to register (https://forms.gle/khRfc8v2HcAxB8Qf8).

Styling a web map

4/28 Tuesday 4:00-5:00 Tutorial & Recording

Third of a 4 part series on designing surveys to capture and share crowdsourced map data from the Spatial Analysis Lab. This workshop will guide you through styling your newly created web map with crowdsourced data. We will look at different symbology and discuss how various visualization techniques change the way viewers understand the data. During the workshop we will also design ‘pop-ups’ where viewers can learn more about specific data points by clicking. Use this form to register (https://forms.gle/khRfc8v2HcAxB8Qf8).

Incorporating an interactive map in StoryMaps or web app

5/1 Friday 3:00-4:00 Tutorial & Recording

Final workshop of a 4 part series on designing surveys to capture and share crowdsourced map data. The Spatial Analysis Lab will show you how to take your styled web map and embed it into either a StoryMap or web app to showcase the data and tell the larger story. Both StoryMaps and web apps are ways to provide context to your map and also create user friendly ways to interact with the data. Use this form to register (https://forms.gle/khRfc8v2HcAxB8Qf8).
