The NYC Housing and Neighborhood Survey is an experimental study of 3,000 households randomly assigned to receive in-place subsidized housing in one of eleven large-scale new construction rental developments sponsored by the City of New York’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD). The proposed project will provide an in-depth examination of the association between residential context and several sets of outcomes, including financial stability, social connectedness, health and well-being for all households.
HPD is seeking a GIS Intern to assist with data collection and input into a Geographic Information System for neighborhood-based service facilities which will be compiled into a Map Book.
The position requires an enthusiastic individual with good attention to detail, strong organizational skills and ability to follow direction. Successful applicants will have a strong understanding of GIS data formats and file management and have a functional knowledge of ArcGIS 9.x products including, editing feature classes and tables, selection, symbology, changing layer properties and exporting to other file types (ex. PDF, JPEG) and be proficient in DS Map Book, Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
