Join the rWright Lab!

Undergraduate students
Smith College or Five Colleges students interested in special studies, SURF, honors thesis, or volunteer positions are encouraged to reach out to Dr. Wright. We hope to provide every student who joins the lab with a meaningful research experience that includes animal care, molecular techniques, computational analysis, and literature review. This breadth of experience requires substantial training, so Dr. Wright asks that every student make a minimum one-year commitment to the lab. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that a position will be available due to space and time constraints, but please reach out to Dr. Wright if you are interested and stay in touch about future openings.

Graduate Students
The lab welcomes applications from prospective graduate students who are excited about cnidarian–algal symbioses, genomics, and stress responses. Graduate students are expected to develop independent research related to the general themes of the lab.

More information about the MS program at Smith College can be found here. Interested students should contact Dr. Wright well in advance of Smith’s graduate application deadline, which is typically around January 15th.

Ph.D. students can join the rWright lab through the Ph.D. program at UMass Amherst. The lab currently does not have support for these positions, but please reach out to Dr. Wright if you are interested in exploring opportunities for externally funded Ph.D. positions.

Graduate programs at Smith College are co-educational. Underrepresented groups are especially encouraged to apply.

Postdoc Opportunities
The lab currently does not have support for postdoctoral positions, but please reach out to Dr. Wright if you are interested in exploring opportunities for externally funded positions.
