This album was written in 1999 as a response to reading J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings in English class.
The sixteen tracks total to about twenty minutes of music.
The first eleven tracks are meant to correspond to some of the more memorable and evocative moments in The Fellowship of the Ring.
The final five tracks are designed for moments in the other two books, and are considered "Bonus Tracks".
- Hobbiton
- Hobbiton is the simple community in which the Hobbits live -- and everything is peaceful and harmonious before Gandalf delivers his news.
- Black Riders
- The group of Hobbits is attacked by Black Riders on their way to Rivendell, but they manage to hide in time, and are left to continue on their way.
- Tom Bombadillo
- The group is rescued from certain death by a man known as Tom Bombadillo. He sings them a song, and this is the music to it.
- Prancing Pony
- The Hobbits stay the night at The Prancing Pony, and are treated to a gig or two.
- Barrow Wights
- The Barrow Wights attack and attempt to kidnap the Hobbits...
- Return of the Black Riders
- The Black Riders return briefly, and frighten the Hobbits again. Once again, they are turned away.
- Rivendell
- The happy home of the Elves, where music is common and often ethereal.
- Orcs
- The travelers can hear the Orcs in the distance, with their ominous drums.
- Return of the Orcs
- While investigating the old home of the Trolls, our Heroes are attacked by the Orcs, and Gandalf is killed by the Balrog.
- Caras Galadon
- Some reminiscing in the relative quiet of Caras Galadon.
- Orcs and Gollum
- Gollum is now leading the Orcs to the group of travelers -- they can hear his whining voice, even from the river.
- Torech Ungol
- Frodo and Sam are attacked by the giant spider, who travels on spindly, clicking legs.
- March on Peleanor
- The great battle between good and evil rages on Peleanor Field -- it seems that the Orcs might win.
- Against the Witchking
- Finally, a mysterious soldier manages to slay the Witchking, and the tide of the battle changes.
- Lonesome Daze
- More reminiscing, but this time missing friends lost.
- Arwen
- A song for Arwen Evenstar, the most beautiful Elf of all.
