Welcome to the Little Lab

We are a research lab in the Smith Psychology department that wants to understand how children learn. Here at the Little Lab, we recognize that children are amazing language learners as they discover the world around them and make meaning out of new surroundings. Our lab uses observational and experimental studies to examine how environmental and contextual factors, such as caregiver mental health, parent-child interactions, and background noise, impact this process of language development. Our work is a collaborative effort! We welcome infants and toddlers as well as their families to participate in our fun, short, and interactive studies. While we are conducting studies online at the moment, our lab space is located on Smith’s beautiful campus in Northampton, MA. Either as a study participant or research assistant, join the Little Lab in learning about how Little Ones learn from their world to communicate with others. We look forward to meeting you soon!
