Design of a Catalytic Reactor to Treat Wastewater from a Semiconductor Manufacturing Plant

IBM

IBM Team: Briana Tomboulian, Kitu Patel

2007-2008: In collaboration with IBM, this student team designed a catalytic reactor to decompose hydrogen peroxide in wastewater generated by IBM’s semiconductor manufacturing facility in Fishkill, NY.

The team identified suitable catalysts, modeled the chemical reaction process, conducted a sensitivity analysis by varying reactor parameters, developed a final design based on modeling results, and prepared process and implementation drawings for their proposed design.
