Mission
The Center for Design and Fabrication exists to serve students, faculty and researchers as an instructive facility where ideas take solid form. We are primarily a teaching shop. Our shop has machining, welding and fabrication, woodworking, and rapid prototyping capabilities. We support two initiatives.
- Teaching. We work with faculty from any division of the college to add an enriching hands-on experience to their curriculum. Students design and build their own projects and gain valuable insights only available by doing.
- Research. Our staff will repair or fabricate the specialized equipment that science center faculty and students need for their research.
Location/Hours
The Center for Design and Fabrication (CDF) is located in McConnell Hall, Basement Level, Room B05. We are easy to find as we occupy the entire center of the basement floor
Our hours are 8:30 – 4:30 M-F, with an hour closed for lunch. We are occasionally open later in the evening if required. Appointments are strongly suggested!
The shop may be closed occasionally at times during the day if both technicians have appointments outside the CDF.
