About John

John Clayton Mayer was born in Bridgeport, CT on October 16th, 1977. (same town that I was born in!) He attended the same high school where his father worked as principal, Fairfield HS, and when he graduated, he began attending Berklee School of Music in Boston. He did not last long there, because he did not like the curriculum he was learning, so he left Berklee to go to Atlanta, GA. to start his recording career. John's first album, Inside Wants Out, was put into limited release by Aware Records, a small company under Columbia, and his first widespread CD, Room For Squares, yielded some of the biggest radio hits of the year it was released. Soon after, John won his first grammy for the single, "Your Body is a Wonderland". His 3rd CD (set), Any Given Thursday, was a double CD set of live songs and some previously unreleased songs from John's concert tours. John's fan club, Local-83 Listeners Union, was established soon after. His 4th CD, Heavier Things, was a huge hit, giving John 2 more Grammy wins for the song "Daughters". John has barely stopped touring since he hit big, and some of the bands he's toured with include Counting Crows, Switchfoot, Maroon 5, and Res. John cites Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jeff Buckley, and The Police as some of his favorite artists, and he often plays their cover songs in concert.
