Goals of the Biological Resources Division

The primary goals of this division of the FR3 are as follows:
 

1.0       Maintain a repository of Brugia malayi, B. pahangi and Dirofilaria immitis filariae and Aedes aegypti vector mosquitoes,

2.0       Supply, upon approved request, designated filarial research materials to investigators,

3.0       Provide annual training sessions (“wet lab” and “didactic” aspects) on the use and maintenance of parasite and vector life cycles and related techniques,

4.0       Establish and maintain a Resource Center web site that contains donating/ordering information, standard operating procedures (SOPs), information on training opportunities and links to other relevant web sites, and

5.0       Perform quality control analyses to ensure the integrity of the parasite and vector strains.
