See the main Courses page for more information on the structure of the introductory courses. Below is textbook information and an abbreviated list of the topics in MTH102.

Textbook: Functions Modeling Change, 5th edition by Eric Connaly et al. Available through the Smith Bookstore and most online retailers.

Topics: Elementary functions is a course for students interested in exploring the different types of functions used most commonly in the sciences and college level mathematics courses. The course focuses on where the functions are used in a variety of disciplines and will serve as preparation for MTH111, for those who are interested in further mathematics courses. As described in the main Courses page, the course will examine each function verbally, graphically, numerically, and symbolically.
