Mapping Girls Adventure Novels

Professor and Dean Margaret Bruzelius is working with two STRIDE students and the Spatial Analysis Lab in the fall of 2014 to map the landscapes of girls adventure novels. The project uses an online interactive mapping platform to visualize the geographic movement within each novel. The hope is that systematizing and documenting the spaces of these imaginative landscapes will reveal greater themes of plot and character development in the genre of young female adventure novels.

The project is currently in its beginning stages, however, as the year progresses we plan to share our development with the Smith Community.
