The Shallow OCEAN study seeks to understand how early life experiences help shape and influence neurodevelopment in areas such as working memory, attention, language development and other executive functions.
The original Shallow OCEAN Study was conducted in the Stress and Development Lab at Harvard University, during which behavioral and MRI neuroimaging data was collected from 5-6 year olds. The student-led Shallow OCEAN Follow-Up is launching in October 2024 to follow up with children in the original study to understand changes in cognition over time.
