SPARK (Shared Problem-Solving and Readiness for Kindergarten)

The SPARK (Shared Problem-Solving and Readiness for Kindergarten) Study is investigating how parenting and the environment impact the development of brain-to-brain synchrony between children and their primary caregivers. Previous research shows that brain-to-brain synchrony is associated with child academic and social outcomes.

Parents will answer some questions about types of experiences your family has had, children will play some fun games like Simon Says and some iPad games, then parent and child will play a game together play while wearing our functional near infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) caps which measure brain activity. Through this, we hope to better understand parent-child brain synchrony.
