Study abroad for NSC majors

There are many great opportunities for you to study abroad during your time at Smith College.  The Lewis Global Studies Center should be your first stop in gathering information about opportunities and important deadlines.

If you are studying French, you can get great science experiences in the Smith program in Paris.  If you are up for an amazing adventure and the ability to carry out a substantial independent project, look at the SIT programs.

Many neuroscience majors select the DIS program in Copenhagen. DIS offers courses with a focus on neuroscience, biomedicine, or medical practice and policy. Courses are in English, and all students take a course in Danish as well.

Follow links on the list of Smith-approved programs to find other opportunities. In the UK, our majors often choose University College of London, King’s College London, or University of Edinburgh, but the following schools are worth a close look: University of Bristol, University of Manchester, University of Glasgow, University of St. Andrews.

Note that Oxford and Cambridge have a higher GPA requirement. If you can pass that, consider applying to one of these schools.

Summer programs include this one sponsored by College of Charleston, or several research internship programs: the RISE program, or the EuroScholars program.

Every other year we offer a 10 day course in Panama: “Brains, behavior and evolution: Panama Field Course”. The next offering of this course will be in January 2020.
