7/17/18: The 2018 summer research team visited the Martin Guitar Factory to learn about the fabrication system of Martin guitars and how parts of the process have been automated over the years. Much bigger than the machines we have in the machine shops at Lafayette!
7/9/18: While on a family trip to Latvia, Amanda stopped at the Obelisk hemp farm! She had the chance to talk to the family about the hemp-growing process and their adventures in educating the surrounding communities about the many uses of hemp. The farm uses all parts of the plant in their daily life: hemp milk from the seeds, hemp tea from the flowers, and hemp shives to make insulating “hemp-crete”. They also had a huge dog name Foofer!
