Putnam Exam at Smith

The Putnam Exam is a national mathematics competition for undergraduates, held at the beginning of December. It is a difficult but rewarding exam, and preparing for it is a fun way to broaden your mathematical experience and sharpen your skills at problem-solving and proof writing. Most Putnam problems require little mathematical background beyond calculus, so even first-year students are encouraged to try!

We hold weekly practice sessions throughout the Fall semester, where we will discuss tactics and practice solving Putnam-style problems. You can even register for it as a 1 unit special studies course. If you are interested in attending or have any questions, email me at rmehta@smith.edu.
