Instructions for Completing Assignments and Quizzes

Assignments

1. You will need the free Acrobat Reader to view and print the assignments. (It should be already installed on all campus machines.)
2. Assignments will be collected and graded electronically. The due date will be noted on Moodle, and should be submitted there as well. Adobe PDF is the preferred format. (You can convert a Word document to PDF on most Smith computers.)

Quizzes

1. Quizzes will be completed electronically on the course Moodle site.
2. You may not consult with others about the quizzes, either in person or online. See the official collaboration policy.
3. You may consult reference materials both in print and online.
4. Quiz questions may cover material from the lectures, the labs, and/or noted web sources. In completing the quizzes you may assume that information found on Wikipedia pages is correct.
5. Take your time. Consider printing out the quiz and completing it on paper before submitting.
6. If you think a question is ambiguous or unclear, send email to the professor before the quiz is due.
7. Please follow carefully all instructions regarding the format of your answer -- the autograder is not very forgiving and may register an answer as incorrect if it is not in the expected form.
8. It may be harder than you initially think to get everything correct. It will usually not suffice to know roughly what's going on--often you will have to know precisely what's going on, the precise meaning of technical terms, etc.
