The paragraph designated by the id P1 has a background made by tiling the image at http://cs.smith.edu/~nhowe/105/examples/g/tex.gif. The text is padded inwards by one inch so that you can see the bare image in the background to the left of the text.
The words PINK TEXT in this sentence are made pink in color and bolded through use of an inline style override.
