CSC103 How Computers Work
Assignment and Quiz Rules

Last Update:
  1. Both assignments and quizzes are due by midnight on the Thursday designated in the Syllabus. Unless you give me advance notice by more than a day, grades will diminish one letter grade per each day late.
  2. Assignments and quizzes are "open-book" in the sense that you may look up anything in books or on the Web. I especially encourage you to use Wikipedia, which is a substitute textbook for us.
  3. In assignments, you should quote your sources, giving a URL or reference, and using quotation marks when quoting. Citing but not employing quotation marks when you are copying and pasting is a form a plagarism.
  4. Assigments may be done in collaboration, as long as you tell me at the time of submission who collaborated with whom. There will be no difference in grading if you collaborate. I encourage you to collaborate.
  5. You may seek help in the assignments from the Teaching Assitants or from me.
  6. Quizzes must be done solo. Moreover, unlike assignments, you may not ask another human being for help. But you can use the Web as much as you like (but you cannot post a query in a forum). You may not ask the Teaching Assistants questions about the quizzes. You may ask me questions for clarification, and if something needs clarification, I will broadcast that to the entire class.
