The Future of Input Devices
The Future of Input Devices
Currently, there are a limited, and limiting, number of devices used to interact with the computer. Most people are familiar with keyboards, mice, and in some cases, pen tablets or joysticks. But the future of computing lies in making it easier to communicate with the machine. Some advances in this area are the dataglove, which senses hand movements, eye-tracking devices that move the cursor or pointer on screen in response to eye gestures, and speech recognition systems, which allow the user to speak to the computer, and for the computer to speak back to the user.
A key benefit to some of the new technologies is that they make computing accessible to the disabled.
