Comments: In mid- to late-18th century England some young men who had visited Italy adopted a
rather foppish lifestyle and dress including tricorne hats adorned with feathers. They became known
as "macaronis". Early English mariners sailing in the southern oceans named these penguins in
reference the headgear worn by the "macaronis".
