Fun times discussing research methods in our weekly meeting

One goal of the SPAH Laboratory is to provide foundational research training in psychological science. Another is to increase and diversify the pool of top-notch female scientists.

We strive to conduct the most scientifically rigorous research possible. To achieve this, we take a feminist empirical approach. That is, we pay attention to social contextual factors and power dynamics in research conduct, framing, interpretation, dissemination, and applications.

Laboratory trainees glean hands-on experience with many facets of the research process. In any given semester, this could include one or more of the following: conceptualizing and designing empirical studies; preparing institutional review board applications; handling data collection, entry, and coding; reviewing literature; preparing conference presentations and manuscripts; presenting findings at professional conferences; and co-reviewing journal manuscripts.
