New team in the SAL

A new year and some new faces in the Spatial Analysis Lab.  We have a great team to support a variety of classes and research projects.

Spatial Fellow

Our new post-bac Spatial Analysis Fellow, Scott Gilman from Middlebury College, started the last week of September.   Scott’s first day began with our Intro to GIS class (GEO/ENV150) and later transitioned to meeting with a student and faculty member to assist with the ENV101 lab exercise.  Scott will continue to work with GEO/ENv150, as well as ENV201/202.  Additionally, he is supporting REL266 with Story Maps and will be updating our workshop series.  More from Scott in the future.

Student Assistants

Seniors Karen and Eliana are settling into their support roles and research projects for the year.  Karen is working primarily with Story Maps and will be developing a variety of campus themed spatial narratives. Eliana is taking a deep dive into Northampton’s LiDAR data and also lending her skills and interest into our work with UAVs (drones).  Lyn ’17 is the first hire as a member of the ground crew and she picks up where STRIDE students Alex and Christine left off.  Lyn is learning about all the moving parts necessary to support our drone research.
