Graduate Fellowships

Project Coach Scholarship is designed for students interested in working as Project  Coach mentors/supervisors and who also wish to pursue a Master's Degree in the Smith College Education and Child Study Graduate Program. Fellows receive a tuition waiver and a small stipend. The ideal candidate will be committed to the mission and values of Project Coach, have experience as a college athlete, be able to communicate and motivate youth from diverse backgrounds, and wish to pursue a career in education (see Smith Graduate Program).

The application process is as follows:

1. Submit an application to Project Coach via email to Professor Sam Intrator (sintrato@email.smith.edu). This should include:

a.Up-to-date resume

b. Two letters of recommendation: (one from a professor who can write about your academic abilities, and one from somebody who knows about your work with youth or has worked with you in a co-curricular context-- which would include sports, theatre, arts, journalism etc...)

c. Submit a 500-750 word response to the following question:

How have co-curricular experiences in your life (sports, arts, theater, community service, journalism or other activities outside the formal academic curriculum) shaped your school and social experience and, in particular, your academic experiences. In other words, what did you learn in your co-curricular experiences that contributed to your ability to achieve and perform academically?

2. Schedule an interview. Contact either Sam Intrator (sintrato@email.smith.edu) or Don Siegel (dsiegel@smith.edu)

3. Submit an application to the Education Graduate Program  (information can be found here).
