Academic Preparation

If you’re considering a degree in engineering, you should take four years each of math, science and English and preferably three years of a foreign language in high school. Ask your guidance counselor what classes you should be taking now to make sure you’re qualified.

Smith students declare their majors at the end of their sophomore year. If you plan to major in another discipline but decide to switch to engineering in your first or second year, you may do so, but you will need to take the appropriate prerequisite courses.
