Maps and Spatial Data are the heart and uniqueness of the Spatial Analysis Lab. Maps and the data used to generate them are becoming one in the same. Advances in GIS are creating Maps as "storage containers" for data. Related developments include cartographic rules and elements that are stored and maintained in a database. Hence, the SAL views and presents Maps and Data with equal importance.
