____________________________________
Stefan, who radiated energy, enthusiasm and intellectual fervor wherever he went, will be fondly remembered for the compassion and caring he shared with his advisees, students and colleagues.
He delivered his lectures with electrifying passion, inspiring students to love neuroscience. He was a mentor. He was sincerely interested in contributing to the development of his advisees. His students deeply appreciated his encouragement and involvement in their academic and personal development. By sharing his personal development stories, he was successful in forming a warm rapport with students and ardently sought to understand them -- the characteristic of a true friend.
Stefan eagerly shared his expertise on retinal development with students to whom he imparted exceptional scientific training and guidance. By believing in the intellectual capacity of his students and by valuing their opinions, he encouraged them to excel and reach beyond their expectations.
Stefan always gave maximal effort and enthusiasm to every project he ever undertook, and to every person who was involved. He left a mark on this campus in the hearts and minds of students and faculty alike. It was a gift to have been a part of his life, and Smith College will carry on his amazing spirit. |
