We are looking at the ganglion from the front. The sections move from the connective at the anterior end of the ganglion to the connective at the posterior end.

Landmarks:

Tracts of axons that appear as circular profiles. These include the lateral giants (LG) and medial giants (MG) near the dorsal surface of the ganglion (top).

Cell bodies of large neurons near the ventral surface of the ganglion (bottom).

Commissures that run from left to right across the ganglion (DC1-DC7).

Lateral neuropil (LN) containing the processes of swimmeret motoneurons, near the base of the first root (N1).
