The Clark Science Center sponsors up to twenty students every year to attend selected science conferences in the Boston area: the New England Board of Higher Education (NEBHE) Science Network Meeting, and the Biomedical Careers Student Conference. Students are recruited through the Science Inreach/Outreach office and (US)2.
Funding may be available to subsidize traveling costs.
An annual conference is also organized by the Science Inreach/Outreach Coordinator and the Union for Underrepresented Science Students (US)2, held at Smith College. In the past years, the conference has featured a range of notable speakers such as:
- Dr. Helen Hwang, entrepreneur and engineer
- Dr. Susan Stukes, and African American dentist
- Dr. Bruce Cutting, an African American veterinarian in the Pioneer Valley
- Dr. Barbara Ross-Lee, a doctor of osteopathic medicine and Dean of New York Institute of Technology
- Dr. Alfred Gaskin, DVM, an African American veterinarian at the Tuskegee Institute.
- Dr. Marion Smith-Waison ‘68, a practicing obstetrician and gynecologist
- Dr. Virginia Banks, M.D., M.B.A., Infectious Disease Physician.
- Dr. Melba J. T. Vasquez, Ph.D., ABPP, Latina Psychologist and Director of Vasquez and Associates Mental Health Services
- Dr. Alfredo Molinolo, M.D./Ph.D. specializing in oral cancer research
