Professor White is interested in the politics of economic development in developing countries, especially in Africa and the Middle East. He has written about Morocco's efforts, for example, to develop its deep-sea fishing sector, which has had enormous environmental implications. White is also interested in the environmental impact of tourism and the politics of labor migration.
