Student Teachers

In addition to gaining invaluable curriculum planning, teaching, and research experience, the full immersion of Smith student teachers into Belizean culture offers experiences that cannot be obtained from classrooms and textbooks alone. Daily life in Belize is different in many ways from that in the United States, from communication to grocery shopping, to childcare and transportation. The relative lack of immediate access to technology challenges student teachers to be resourceful while encouraging them to utilize the natural setting of Ambergris Caye in planning and executing the Coral Reef Ed-Ventures Program.
