Available GrantsHoward Hughes Medical Institute Travel AwardTravel awards available to students in Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Neuroscience, Physics, and Mathematics as they relate to the biological sciences; preference for projects in the molecular biosciences. Also, preference is given to students that have been awarded an HHMI Fellowship.
This program was initiated by HHMI to strengthen college programs in biology and other scientific disciplines as they relate to biology, and to attract and retain students in scientific research and academic careers.
MIT Lincoln Laboratory Travel AwardThe Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Lincoln Laboratory has established a travel award for Smith College students to promote the professional development of women in science and engineering. The Lincoln Laboratory Travel Award will help offset the travel costs of students presenting their research at technical conferences.MIT Lincoln Laboratory has a broadly diversified research and development program involving a variety of sensor modalities, signal and data processing, communications and systems analysis. While the Laboratory’s principal interest is in students pursuing degrees in electrical engineering, physics, and mathematics, there are opportunities in many other disciplines. Priority for the travel award will be given to students in the following departments:
The award will provide a total of $1,500 each year (2007, 2008 and 2009) to be distributed among selected applicants.
