Director's OfficeEmergency Back-up PowerFaculty members or departments concerned about the effects of short term power outages or small variations in electrical service (e.g. voltage surges, spikes, or outages of a few seconds) are recommended to acquire an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) for their equipment. The Clark Science Center has emergency generators that will start up within approximately 10 seconds of a power outage. The purpose of an emergency generator is to supply power during longer outages for life-safety infrastructure (e.g. emergency lighting, fire alarms) and select equipment used for long-term storage of critical materials. The following equipment is powered by emergency generators (information supplied by Facilities Management). Note: elevators are not connected to back-up generator.
