Science Center Building Schedule

 

Key/Card Entry

Faculty and staff with entry door key/card can enter the Science Center (Ford Hall, Sabin-Reed, Burton, McConnell, Green Box and Bass Hall) at any time. Off-hour entry into Ford Hall requires a 2nd generation OneCard (picture of Campus Center roof) and access privileges. If you need help, please see the Departmental Assistant for any of the Science Center departments.

Normal Opening Hours

All entry doors are unlocked during these hours:

  • Monday through Friday - 7.30am to 5pm

Special Events

Don't forget to submit an "Event Service Request" for any special events you plan. Information on this form will also allow custodians to know about special locking or unlocking requirements. If you have a special request, and are not submitting an Event Service Request, contact one of the Academic Assistant in Burton 115. The custodians will NOT respond to written notices on doors ("Please leave this door unlocked").

Ford Hall Operating Hours

Beginning in mid-January 2010 Ford Hall will operate under the same building hours schedule as the rest of the Science Center. Until then, Ford Hall is a limited use building and with the doors being unlocked from 7am to 5.30pm on weekdays only. Outside these hours, only Science Center faculty, staff, or research students who have received access privileges on their OneCard will be able to enter exterior doors. If you need key or card access to Ford Hall, please see your Departmental Assistant.

Sabin-Reed Extended Opening Hours (Door Monitor hours)

During extended hours, there are some restrictions on access to the Science Center: only the Sabin-Reed door under the bridge-way to McConnell is unlocked. If entering through this door, you are requested to present your Smith ID or Five-College ID to the door monitor who will make a note of your entry and exit. Any visitor with neither Smith nor Five-College ID is required to have a Smith or Five-College host (with ID) present at the door to allow sign-in as guest.

  • Monday through Friday - 5pm to 11pm
  • Saturday and Sunday - 8am to 10pm

The first day of extended opening hours is start of classes: September 8, 2009

The last day of extended opening hours is last day of the pre-examination study period: May 3, 2010

 

Modifications to Sabin-Reed Extended Opening Hours (Door Monitor hours)

Autumn Recess Door Monitor Hours

Saturday, Oct. 10    1:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Sunday, Oct. 11  1:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Monday, Oct. 12  No extended hours (no monitor on duty)
Tuesday, Oct. 13 No extended hours (no monitor on duty)

Thanksgiving Recess Door Monitor Hours                           

November 25 – 28 No extended hours (no monitor on duty)
Sunday, November 29    1:00 – 10:00 p.m.

Winter Recess Door Monitor Hours                           

Regularly scheduled monitoring hours continue through December 18th (the end of pre-examination study period). No extended hours (no monitor on duty) after this date.

Interterm (J-Term) Door Monitor Hours

The first day of Interterm extended opening hours is Monday, January 4.

The last day of Interterm extended opening hours is Sunday, January 24.

This period has a modified schedule for extended opening hours (door monitoring):

  • Monday through Thursday - 5pm to 9pm
  • Fridays - no door monitor on duty
  • Saturday and Sunday - 1pm to 5pm

Monday, January 25, is back to the regular extended opening hours schedule

NOTE: Martin Luther King Day - the college is closed January 18 (no doormonitors)

 

Spring Break Door Monitor Hours                

March 13 - 20 No extended hours (no monitor on duty)
Sunday, March 21  1:00 – 10:00 p.m.

             

End of Door Monitoring

Last day of door monitoring is Friday, May 3, 2009
