Info Session of Interest to CS Majors
From: Gwen Spencer <email@example.com>
Next Wednesday, April 12, at 4:30 in Ford 240 we’ll have an info session on Analytics: a fast-growing field that is hungry for quantitatively-strong applicants. Analytics is a close relative of Data Science, and focuses on extracting actionable insights from data and mathematical models. This is a great career direction for majors in Math, Statistics and Data Science, Computer Science and Engineering, etc.
Our speaker will be Michelle Li, the Director of the new Master of Business Analytics Program at MIT. This program was recently rated number 1 among Business Analytics Master’s Programs by a website that evaluates Master’s Programs in Data Science.
Michelle will talk about the field of Analytics, the types of math and computing that make a strong Analytics Toolbox, and about the Master’s Program she directs. Michelle has personal industrial experience in investment banking and finance, and has an M.Eng. in Operations Research and Computer Science from Cornell.
Substantial time will be devoted to Q&A. If you’re curious about the contributions quantitative folks can make in business and industry (either post-undergrad or post-master’s), and what the field has to offer, come ask Michelle!
