Ahhh…a day at the SPAH (lab)!

Our research focuses on psychological mechanisms by which environments — social, cultural, physical — become internalized and contribute to social inequalities and flourishing alike in human health. We examine this through observational studies of community samples and experimental studies of college students.

A variety of sub-fields of the discipline inform our perspectives: health, personality, feminist, and social psychology. We also draw from public health and medicine. Our findings add to basic scientific knowledge and inform intervention, practice, and policy.

We are located in lovely Northampton, Massachusetts, USA at Smith College, in Bass Hall, pictured above.
