Symmlet Wavelets
Compact, orthogonal, continuous, but only nearly symmetric
The left hand wavelet of each pair is the socalled "father" wavelet, which is used only for the largest scale decomposition. The right-hand "mother" wavelets are used for all the finer scales. Notice that the mother wavelet looks rather like the derivativ
e of the father. This was true also for the daublets, but was less evident because of the lower symmetry.
