Ahhh…a day at the SPAH (lab)!
Our research focuses on psychological mechanisms by which environments — social, cultural, physical — become internalized and contribute to social inequalities in human health. We examine this through observational studies of community samples and experimental studies of college students.
A variety of sub-fields of the discipline inform our perspectives: health, personality, feminist, and social psychology. We also draw from public health and medicine. Our findings add to basic scientific knowledge and eventually will inform intervention, practice, and policy.
