Announcements Upcoming ES-SEPM events at: 1) The 16th Annual David S. Snipes/Clemson Hydrogeology Symposium on April 3, 2008, Clemson, South Carolina ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) The Role of Sedimentology in Coastal Plain Hydrogeology – A Technical Symposium Sponsored by SEPM Eastern Section At the 16th Annual David S. Snipes/Clemson Hydrogeology Symposium on April 3, 2008. This symposium highlights the role that sedimentology plays in hydrogeologic characterizations in the coastal plain of the United States. Delineating the relationship between sedimentary geology and hydrological characteristics is a fundamental component of understanding aquifer interconnections for both regional and site-specific characterization projects for hydrostratigraphic studies, coastline studies, and environmental remediation. Papers are sought that address the basic sedimentological aspects including mineralogical and geochemical aspects along with aquifer and aquitard properties. Contributions of a broader context will be considered. Conveners: Mary Harris, Savannah River National Laboratory, PO Box 616, Aiken, SC 29808, 803-725-4184, mary.harris@srnl.doe.gov, and Paul Thayer, Dept. Geography and Geology, University of North Carolina at Wilmington, 601 S. College Road, Wilmington, NC 28403, 910-962-3780, thayer@uncw.edu Full details at: http://www.ces.clemson.edu/hydro/symposium/index.html -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) Northeastern Section GSA, 43rd Annual Meeting, 27-29 March 2008, Buffalo, New York http://www.geosociety.org/sectdiv/northe/08mtg/ ES-SEPM Reception and Keynote Address - time and place - TBD Keynote Address by the ES-SEPM President Ilya V.
