Announcements:

Geology Fall Field Trip!

WHAT: Join us for a Funtastic Geology Fall Field Trip to the Ossipee Ring Dike in central New Hampshire.
WHEN: The 1st weekend of 2008 Fall semester (Sept. 5-7)
.

WHY: The main purpose is to bring together everyone in the Geo Department for a great time to kick off the new academic year. No assignments! No exams! No seminar prep! Just lots and lots of geologic wonders to awe and inspire you, along with camping, swimming, and a big Saturday night BBQ at Bob Newton's New Hampshire country house. We'll marvel at the famous Great Ossipee Ring Dike Complex, and admire the marvelous glacial features that shape the surrounding landscape. It's totally voluntary and fun for all, with camping, sightseeing, and lots of rocks and glacial landforms in one of the most beautiful mountain and lake areas in New England.

HOW: We'll be camping by a lakeside near the Ossipee Mountains and can provide sleeping bags, sleeping pads, and tents to people who don't have their own. The Department will of course be providing transportation.

There's a little more information on the attached poster. If you're interested in going on the trip, please e-mail Mark Brandriss so he can better plan logistics.
