ADMISSIONS INFO
Placement Credits

From time to time, students will want credit towards the engineering major for courses taken at other institutions. Students should make every effort to obtain approval to receive credit for such courses before taking them.

A student seeking approval should write a short memo addressed to the director of the Picker Engineering Program describing what approval she seeks and what special circumstances should be considered by the faculty in granting the approval. In addition to the memo, where possible the student should provide:

The name of the institution

The course description

The name of the instructor

A syllabus from the course

The name of the text(s) used

The student should submit the request at least 4 weeks prior to the time that approval is sought. Requests may be submitted to the program assistant of the engineering program.

NOTE: Only grades of C or better will be accepted for transfer credit. Grades of pass/fail, S/U or credit/ non-credit earned in courses completed at other institutions are not acceptable for transfer toward the Smith degree.

Grades for work completed at another institution will not appear on the Smith record and will not be counted for Dean's List, First Group Scholars, or for Latin Honors.
