Smith College, 2000-present
Assistant Professor of Chemistry

Bell Laboratories, Lucent Technologies, 1998-2000
Postdoctoral Member of Technical Staff

COURSES 2006-2007
CHM 111: General Chemistry, Sections 2 and 3 (Fall)
CHM 332: Physical Chemistry II (Spring)
CHM/EGR 337: Materials Chemistry (Spring)
RESEARCH INTERESTS
Physical and materials chemistry - We use a combination of infrared absorbance spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy to study surface chemistry at liquid/solid interfaces. One current project seeks to understand the adsorption of large polysaccharides on surfaces; these biomolecules play an important role in bacterial adhesion. A second project is focused on the aqueous chemistry used to clean and modify silicon surfaces.
