2010 Annual Birdwalk and Breakfast - proudly sponsored by Life Sciences (Biological Sciences - Biochemistry and Neuroscience
 

These two fun events sponsored annually by the Department of Biological Sciences and Life Sciences will be held on Monday, May 3, 2010. You are cordially invited to participate in either or both events.

The Birdwalk is open to all interested in the college community. The group will assemble at 6:00am in the courtyard between McConnell and Sabin-Reed. Bring binoculars and bird guides if you have them, and dress warmly. Expected time of return will be 7:30-7:45am.

The breakfast will be held in McConnell Foyer, beginning at 7:45am. Faculty, staff, graduate students, majors, prospective majors, and minors are invited.  Families are welcome. A hearty breakfast prepared by faculty and staff will be provided at no charge.

Meet alumnae Laura Worth '83 &

Constance Brinckerhoff '63

   
 

 Laura Worth and Constance Brinckerhoff will be two of the panelists at the Ford Hall dedication on October 16. The Immunology class BIO 306 will be meeting with these two alumnae on Friday 9-10:20 am, but everyone is welcome to attend this event to be held in McC 404.

No RSVP required, just show up.

Each of the two panelists will be giving a short talk (~15 minutes)
on their research and profession, followed by informal discussion
with students.

Constance Brinckerhoff, PhD (Smith '63) is the Nathan Smith Professor of Medicine and Biochemistry at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.

Her research investigates the novel roles for matrix
metalloproteinases (MMPs) in tumor invasion and metastasis,
particularly relating to melanoma and breast cancer.

Laura Worth MD, PhD (Smith'83) is a Professor in theDepartment of Pediatrics Patient Care at the

University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

Her research is in stem cell transplantation and she
is the Clinical Director for Cell Therapy at MD Anderson.
