Hardware Design Engineer Intern

Apple is currently seeking enthusiastic EE, CE or EE/CS majors to support electrical & system design and integration of Mac computers.

The candidate will be assigned tasks that support the design, integration, implementation, testing, and qualification of various electrical sub-systems.

Responsibilities include schematic capture, signal characterization (timing, crosstalk, spec compliance) of prototype systems, system-level testing support and bug resolution, and/or diagnostics script development.

Requirements:

-Familiar with computer system architecture, digital logic design, and digital and analog circuit analysis.

-Ability to interpret schematics and have exposure to physical design and debugging of circuits via FPGA or PCBs.

-Working knowledge of computer programming languages and Mac-OS or Unix operating system.

Product Design Engineer Intern

Apple is currently seeking individuals that will provide support to design, engineering, prototyping and validation activities for the product line.

Responsibilities:

-Validate functional requirements (form, function, manufacturing and reliability) and design constraints (cost, timing and quality).

-Document design history and qualifications for transfer to production.

Requirements:

-A currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a BS in Mechanical Engineering/Product Design or an MS Mechanical Engineering.

Mac Hardware – Software Engineer Intern

Apple is currently seeking enthusiastic CE/CS majors to support software & system design and integration of Mac computers.

The candidate will be assigned tasks that support the design, integration, implementation, testing, and qualification of various software and firmware sub-systems.

Responsibilities include Kext Development, Software automation, firmware or micro-controller programming, System and Software integration, system-level testing support and bug resolution, and/or diagnostics script development.

Requirements:

– Familiar with computer system architecture, C, C++.

– Familiar with Device Drivers

– Working knowledge of computer programming languages and Mac-OS, Unix operating system, or Linux Operating System.

iPhone Software Internship

The iPhone and iPod touch software team is looking for an engineer to work on the entire system from UI-oriented system frameworks through applications and the UI. Successful candidates will be generalists interested in developing and implementing solutions for challenging cross-functional software problems anywhere in the framework and application stack, with a focus on issues affecting system performance and battery life. This is a terrific position for a junior engineer interested in working on all of the UI frameworks and applications in the iPhone and iPod touch.

Required skills:

• Interest in being a generalist, working on code throughout the system.

Excellent command of Objective-C and Cocoa.

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Excellent teamwork skills. We work with all engineering teams involved in these products, and on all of their code.

Preferred skills:

Some knowledge of performance tools, ideally on Mac OS X.

Software Engineering Internship

Mac OS X Server: assist in the development of state-of- the-art server administration/remote administration software. Interns contribute to the design and implementation of server administration and monitoring solutions that offer the easiest way to set up and manage powerful network services.

Mac OS X: work in a number of different groups on a wide variety of projects from Developer Tools to up to the UI. Test, develop, and improve Mac OS X, its technologies, and applications.

Technical Publications: work with staff to update technical documentation for Apple’s third-party developer audience. Learn aspects of the entire documentation process, including soliciting and incorporating review comments, use of state-of-the- art publishing tools, and producing documents in various media for the web and on-demand print.

Qualifications:

Positions require excellent written and verbal communication skills;proficiency with C, C++, and/or Objective-C.

Mac OS X Server: Experience with UNIX (Mac OS X experience preferred); Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Preferred skills and experiences may also include: Network administration experience; Knowledge of Cocoa/Mac OS X AppKit frameworks; Familiarity with Directory services, Win32, Java, SQL; Knowledge of client/server architectures, TCP/IP, HTTP, LDAP, XML

Mac OS X: Java; Mac OS experience (preferably Mac OS X); Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Technical Publications: Experience with Macintosh and/or UNIX operating systems; Ability to write clear, logically sequenced, grammatically expressed expositions.

Applications interns assist in the development of simply awesome consumer and professional applications for digital media and personal productivity. Our people are both super-technical and abundantly creative. They’re engineers but they’re also musicians, filmmakers, photographers, composers and digital artists. Interns contribute to the design and implementation of Consumer Apps (iLife Suite and the iTunes Music Store, etc.), Professional Apps (Final Cut Pro, Motion, Shake, Logic, Aperture) Productivity Apps (iWork) and MobileMe.

Apple’s Information Systems & Technology Department has openings throughout our team for enthusiastic and self-motivated interns who are ready to contribute in a fast paced, dynamic, IT department.

Internships could be in any of the following areas:  Database administration, B2B, Business Analysis, Reporting, IT Development potentially including Java, Objective-C and Oracle PL/SQL, Networking, Telecom, SAP/PeopleSoft, Application Test and Integration, and System Engineering and Administration.

Qualifications are dependent on the specific internship position, but having some of the following skills would be extremely helpful:

High performing Information Systems & Technology interns will be eligible for offers into Apple’s world-class IT department as well as the highly desirable IT Development Program (ITDP). The ITDP is a 1-2 year rotational training program that offers a series of short-term assignments ranging from special projects to daily operations in a rapidly growing, dynamic setting.  Participants in the ITDP can get experience in both IT and other Apple business groups.
