All equipment will be on the HHMI Scheduler at the link on the left side of this website or at https://www.science.smith.edu/resources/assess/login.php

Users will need to be granted access to use the equipment by Lou Ann Bierwert at lbierwer@smith.edu

Once access is granted, you will be able to sign in to the scheduler with your Novell username and password,

and schedule your use of the equipment, from any computer with internet access, either in your own lab

or from the Typhoon computer in the CMB which will have the scheduler page bookmarked in Internet Explorer.

Scheduling is vital in order to avoid conflicts with other researchers and to document use of the equipment for

future funding and upgrades. Sincerest thanks in advance for you cooperation.

Image Instrument Location Application
Bio-Rad Biolistic Patcile Delivery System PDS-1000 He™ System
Ford 103

The biolistic PDS-1000 He™ system uses a burst of high-pressure helium gas to accelerate micron-size nucleic acid-coated gold or tungsten microparticles to velocities necessary to transfect cells, tissues, or organelles without dependence or interaction with the cell surface.

Molecular Devices SpectraMax M5 / M5e Microplate Reader
Ford 123

SpectraMax M5 / M5e is a dual-monochromator, multi-detection microplate reader with a triple-mode cuvette port and 6-384 microplate reading capability. Detection modalities include absorbance (UV-Vis), fluorescence intensity (FI), fluorescence polarization (FP), time-resolved fluorescence (TRF) and luminescence (Lum).
